Hands down the best place I have found in Missouri for sunsets and sunrises, and you can see miles and miles away from the top of Hughes Mountain.
Located 10 miles south of Potosi in Washington County.

The entire mountain top is covered with individual sections of rock columns. The rhyolite formed as lava cooled to near 900 degree Celsius and began contracting, forming the columnar jointing of the samples. The rock in this area, which is the core of the top of a volcano, is 1.3 billion years

Good work Mark, not only in capturing a wonderful scene but discovering a great place to photograph.

Okay, Mark, NOW you're just showing off! ;)

I never would have guessed Missouri!

Utah? Nevada? Arizona? Yes but Missouri??

Now I must return!

Nice work!
The placement of the sunset in the water is mesmerizing!

Thanks bro
And what really makes it look like not Missouri is how far the horizon stretches

Not Tomsauk, Hughes Mountain which in my opinion much better than Tomsauk
The exposure was 2 seconds at F22

I have not had a chance to photograph the resovoir or the shutins, but it is really hard to access these places at this time but you can volunteer to help clean up on the state park website
