Wow amazing!
You can't believe how much colors there are at night you can't see with your eyes... really impressive :)
Love this light rays of the moon, great photo.

I like this. I was reading one of the long exposure threads and thought I'd check your link out. It is useful information too: I've been considering looking for information about the settings people use for some long exposures. I'm considering playing with some and it's nice to see others for ideas.

I shot this with a 100iso, which I always shoot with 100 speed when doing long exposures to keep noise down to a low.

Thanks Matt

So wait wait, you took this at NIGHT?!

And I thought my Kodak DX6340 did some cool stuff. I only get 4 second long exposure. Woe is me.

...Then again, I don't know too much about long exposure...

And what is a digital 10D?

Thanks!
The 10D is the Canon EOS Digital 6.3mp SLR, its a great camera!

$1300-$1400 just for the 10D body

My lense were
Sigma 15-30mm $550
Canon 28-70mm $190
Tamron 70-300mm $210

Kinda expensive but well worth it if your serious about photography

That's really cool. With the combination of the sky, the weird shadows and the warm light, that looks like it's daylight, it looks truly surreal. Almost a bit like that one picture by René Magritte, where it's a nighttime house, but over that, it's a daytime sky...

could you fill me in on what you mean by light noise?
Reply
:iconcravingfordesign:
cravingfordesign Featured By Owner Oct 13, 2003
the noise is low

I was trying a experiment with my digital 10D vs my film N80
I always thought my film camera would be much better than my digital with very long exposures because of digital sensor heating up and creating noise, but I found out that the noise with the digital was much lower than I expected :)
So know I am happy taking long exposure with a digital SLR, and not just with my film N80

well you guys kept saying "light noise" so im wondering if you are talking about actual light? or sound?

What we mean by noise is the same as film grain
Light noise we ment that the grain was light and not heavy

I had to come see your long exposure work since you mentioned it in the forum. I really do love this. Is the wait time different for different types of cameras? I've heard of 3 hour waits on manual cameras to get the same exposure.

+fav!

It really depends on the apature, if I shot this at F22 it would of took 2 hours to get this exposure, but I have found that shooting at F5.6 works out the best

This is so confusing to me, simply because I wasn't there when you took the shot, which would help me with how it looked there, and how it looks now, with the long exposure.

I like it. It has a sort of dark feel, and the sky looks amazing.

great.

I know it looks crazy, it looks like this because of the full moon at avery long exposure, the camera picks up color that the human eye cant at night and this is why it looks so unreal, and why im in love with this type of photography, do you think it looks like that one photographer's work I sent you?

it was my first attempt, im trying not to use color gels at all (like the other photographer)
and trying to set my own style, I do use a blue led flashlights to lighten dark spots, but not in this photo, its pure moonlight

*shakes head* it doesn't.

His was more of black with a the light having certain shades of color. Yours is different. I like it, but it has a different feel.

*nods*

I should really show you that barn around here...and if I could find that old abandoned brick building...but it's on the backroads. We'll have to get lost out there sometime.

And I was told over and over it couldnt be done on a digital, and this photo is completly unedited, the way it came out of the 10D (except the border)

This is absolutely terrific. The concept first and foremost, followed by the balance of light. You'd think this was taken during the day, yet the motion of clouds and stars adds a surreal effect. This is a favourite for sure.

Holy Mack!
What made that gorgeous glow behind the shed? Imean, I know it was a moonlight shot, but was *that* moonlight?!

wow, I.. Wow... This is absolutely superb, i love how the lighting almost turns the atmosphere to a sunrise dawn kind of feel, yet you've got the presence of the stars..

It's almost surreal..... yeow! Nice.

Oh, and props to bracketing. :)
